Preparing for my Wedding

My whole life I dreamed of getting married; I knew what I would wear and where it would be and how the venue would be decorated. I went as far as naming my future children. I had a whole plan in place.
When Muffin proposed, all of those ideas went out the window. Once the adrenaline died down, I realized that all of those plans I made were not special enough, not beautiful enough. They were plans that weren’t unique to our unique relationship. They were old plans. They didn’t mesh well with my new life.
I had to start from scratch. As it would turn out, I knew NOTHING about weddings. I began doing research and realized how many little details there are that tie the whole thing together.

The first thing that popped up was The Knot. And oh, how I swear by The Knot! They have made things so easy and streamlined for me. The checklist, budgeter, guestlist. I could breathe again.

And the venue! I did a millions searches for venues. We decided to go with Wedgewood Weddings out in California. They offered plans that honestly handled the majority of the work for us. Florist, caterer, baker, DJ, photographers, and coordinator; all available under these plans. They had everything set and lined up with checklists of their own. Courtesy emails and calls.

Right now we are 6 months out and sometimes I forget that I’m supposed to be planning at all. Sometimes I wonder if I’m doing something wrong or missing something with how easy it’s been. I went from a clueless frazzled state to utter calm and peace, knowing that everything is on track. With all the images of bridezillas thrown in my face, I felt like I wasn’t stressed enough over the wedding. Am I taking things too lightly? Am I missing important details?

I did my best to get over that anxiety. Muffin is helping me and both of our families. There’s too many eyes on it to much much of anything, I tell myself. But I still have some anxiety.
Ultimately I want to use this portion of my blog to talk about my wedding and preparations I’ve made and still need to do. I will post some pictures from the websites I use and share my wedding website and invite ideas. Basically use this as a journal to keep track and vent my frustrations and fears.
